The 36-Hour Rush: How an Epilog Helix Laser Cutter Saved a Gala

Thursday, 2:38 PM, March 2024. A voicemail from a client I'd known for three years. The first words were: “Please tell me you have a machine that can engrave acrylic.”

I called back. She answered on the first ring. I could hear an event binder being flipped open. The gala was Saturday morning. The order she'd placed overseas was stuck in customs. She needed 24 acrylic awards, 40 stainless steel name tags, and 20 steel tumblers with names engraved on the side.

The only bad moment was one tumbler where the rotary clamp had shifted and left a thinner mark than expected. We caught it, set the fixture again, and remade it. That took eleven minutes.

At 12:04 AM Saturday, we packed the order into two crates. I sent a photo to the client with the message: “Ready before your alarm.”
